About the Award: Be part of a unique transnational MA & PhD experience graduating from two prestigious universities in Africa and Europe. Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and Leipzig University in Germany jointly offer a two-year MA program AND a three-year PhD program focusing on Africa. Immerse yourself in an interdisciplinary and intercultural
environment that provides you with the knowledge and skills needed in a global job market. The program takes place in Addis Ababa, the political capital of Africa, and includes an organized semester at the University of Leipzig, a center of excellence for research into processes of globalization and area studies.

MASTERS
We are looking for talented students who have completed their first academic degree (Bachelor) in social sciences, political sciences, history, international relations, law, humanities and economics with good or very good. Students applying for this program must have an interest in peace and security and global affairs.

Value of distinction:
€1,800 per term applicants are encouraged to seek financial aid/scholarship from sources such as government agencies, employers, donor agencies or non-governmental organizations partial DAAD scholarships and fee waivers are possible depending on study results

Suitability:
proof of an above-average certificate of higher education eligible for doctoral studies (master’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited higher education institution) an exposé for a dissertation (maximum 3,500 words) describing the research question and approach, including an analysis of the stand of the technology a three-year work plan including finance and logistics two letters of reference from professors, lecturers or employers chronological curriculum vitae a letter with a personal statement proof of nationality (copy of passport) if the previous degree was not awarded by a university that uses English as the language of instruction: proof of sufficient English skills
