Scottish Student Table Tennis Vice-President
Job Title: Scottish Student Table Tennis Vice Chair
Where (location): Various within Scotland
Time commitment: variable, up to 10-15 hours per month, with 4-5 full day tournaments
Duration of the role: minimum one year – until July 30, 2023
Scottish Student Sport (SSS), the student sports organization in Scotland, is looking for an energetic and dedicated individual to act as one of the lead volunteers within Scottish Student Table Tennis.
The Vice-President will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major sports program and work closely with Table Tennis Scotland.
The person selected will be a key figure in the pursuit of improving and strengthening table tennis in Scotland.
The Vice President will work with the President and SSS staff to coordinate event delivery, participate in strategic planning, communicate with student participants, support event volunteers, and improve both SGB engagement and club development.
Main tasks
Help with overseeing program
Support delivery of sorority Captains Meetings (at least one per semester) Taking minutes of all meetings
Assisting in the development of table tennis for students
Assist in developing and delivering a table tennis sports development plan in conjunction with SSS and Table Tennis Scotland Provide the student with perspective on the development needs of clubs
Assistance in planning and delivering the program
Promote table tennis competitions and opportunities for students using social media channels Help develop the table tennis calendar for students, in conjunction with Chair, Match Coordinator, Head of Development, Table Tennis Scotland and BUCS Assist in the delivery of Scottish Student Table Tennis Championships, in partnership with SSS Competitions Coordinator Support delivery of BUCS Centralized Fixtures
Support delivery of Scottish Student Table Tennis Championships
Assist in planning and delivery of Scottish Student Table Tennis Championships, liaise with Match Coordinator and SS Table Tennis Chair Ensure SSS receives Championship results and entry details
Required skills, qualities and experience
Proactive, can do attitude Experience in event management (desirable) Experience of table tennis student in Scotland Knowledge of table tennis landscape in Scotland Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders Social media experience (desirable)
Training and support available
Annual Chair Development Day hosted by SSS All relevant CPD courses/experience as identified by Chair and Head of Competitions Appointed staff member within SSS
The chairman is appointed on a voluntary basis for a period of at least one year. Individuals can stand for re-election for the position of chairman. All reasonable expenses incurred to perform the position will be reimbursed in accordance with the SSS policy.
