Schauenburg Education Trust
The Schauenburg Education Trust awards scholarships to students pursuing scarce skills qualifications, developing and producing more of these skilled professionals for future employment in South Africa.
In the coming period, the Schauenburg Education Trust will focus on providing scholarships to students in their second, third and fourth year of study in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, as well as business management and business administration at certain universities.
Suitability
Scholarships for the academic year 2023 are for second, third and fourth year students studying Electrical Engineering (BEng or BSc), Business Management and Business Administration (BCom).
For the 2023 intake, only students from the following universities in Gauteng Province can apply:
University of Pretoria University of Johannesburg North-West University (Vanderbijlpark) University of the Witwatersrand
The students should be:
Black persons under the B-BBEE legislation, giving preference to black women, black students under the age of 35 and black students with disabilities; South African citizens with valid ID numbers; Willing to attend interviews and undergo psychometric tests; and willing to spend college vacations doing vacation work or job shadowing at Schauenburg Systems (Pty) Ltd.
To apply for this scholarship, students must:
Full-time first, second or third year students and; Studying Electrical Engineering (BEng or BSc), Business Management and Business Administration (BCom). Study at specified accredited South African universities (no scholarships for the 2023 academic year will be awarded to students for studies at a technical university or college).
Who can apply?
First, second or third year students studying electrical engineering (BEng or BSc) or business management and business administration (BCom) can apply to be considered for scholarships for their second, third and fourth year of study.
Applicants must also be able to demonstrate good academic progress during their first, second or third year while studying towards obtaining their Electrical Engineering (BEng or BSc), Business Administration and Business Administration (BCom) degrees. Applicants must have passed all courses for which they are enrolled in the university.
What does the scholarship entail?
Scholarships related to the 2023 academic year will cover some or all of the following costs:
100% of the prescribed university tuition, registration and examination fees paid directly to the university. An amount equal to the average rate for accommodation in a single room in a University hostel at the University where the student is studying. This rate is set by the Trustees of Schauenburg Education Trust and can be paid directly to the university. An amount for textbooks and course material. An amount for living expenses.
All payments in respect of the Scholarship will be made as determined by the Trustees. Full details regarding payments will be communicated to successful applicants.
Selection process
Applications for the 2023 academic year must be received by Schauenburg Education Trust before July 30, 2022.

Applicants should submit their matric results and full academic record, reflecting their most recent results, related to their tertiary education using the form below.
The online application platform allows the applicant to submit a cover letter and upload supporting documents such as their Matric certificate, academic record and a copy of their identity documentation.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Bursary Administrators and the Trustees.
Successful applicants will receive details regarding the Schauenburg Education Bursary Scheme, as well as a written contract and other information for completion.
Important information
No scholarships will be awarded to students already in receipt of other scholarships for the 2023 academic year. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of objective merit and need, and other criteria determined by the trustees. Scholarships are awarded to the trustees in the sole discretion and may be canceled or revoked at any time if the applicant’s conduct or academic record fails to meet the requirements of the trust, the satisfaction of the trustees, or if the applicant complies with the provisions of the Stock Exchange Agreement. The Trustees will identify the specified Universities for study and may change the list of specified Universities at any time
