Riot Games creates 120 new jobs in Dublin’s remote staffing center

“Dublin is now at the forefront of a new frontier and the team will be part of an exciting new chapter in live broadcasting,” said Riot Games’ Allyson Gormley.

US video game developer Riot Games plans to create 120 new highly skilled players jobs at the remote employment center in the former Wright Venue in Swords, Co Dublin.

Riot Games is best known as the developer of League of Legends, one of the most played PC games in the world. It has been present in Ireland since 2010, when it opened its EMEA headquarters in Dublin.

The developer already employs 165 people at its Irish branch. Last October, it announced its strategy to make Dublin a base for one of its three planned outside broadcasting centres. It has named the trio Project Stryker.

The external staffing center in Dublin is powered by AWS. Riot Games has invested €18.5 in the project to increase capacity for its esports content and events. It aims to provide 145 million gamers around the world with a premium viewing experience.

According to Allyson Gormley, manager of the new facility, “Dublin is now at the forefront of a new frontier and the team will be part of an exciting new chapter in live broadcasting.”

“Dublin is an ideal location to support this growth, with an exceptional talent pool, ease of doing business and a key strategic position, making it the perfect hub for RBC’s first Riot Games trio. The skills required as part of the esports industry are many and the creation of 120 plus positions in Dublin to complement our existing workforce reflects the dedication of Riot Games and Project Stryker to Ireland,” added Gormley.

The remote broadcast model reflects the “always-on” lifestyle of modern game fans, Gormley said. Esports is a fast-growing industry that requires a similar commitment to traditional sports.

The Dublin center will broadcast content 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is equipped with six control rooms and the content is edited in real time. Each broadcast is translated into the local language depending on the country to which it is broadcast.
