Creating accessible paths to immersive technology

Bristol’s tech industry is booming and has gained worldwide recognition in recent years for game development, deep tech and more recently metaverse infrastructure, thanks to Condense’s pioneering contribution. With this growth, the company recognizes that we as a community must ensure that no one is left behind.

Fully funded by Condense and LocalGlobe, the program will give 8 young Bristol creatives hands-on training with cutting edge metaverse technology, an opportunity to create truly world-first content and a much-needed breakthrough in the tech industry.

Tech is a rapidly changing industry, filled with a variety of career paths, roles and specialties. However, it is widely recognized that the UK tech industry lacks diversity – something the scholarship program is set up to address.

The need for the program is clear. Research by Tech Nation found that while 50% of workers in the UK are women, in the UK technology industry half of them are at 26%. Compared to the country, Bristol is lagging behind: only 13% of tech workers are women. Looking at BAME representation, 13% of the UK population has a BAME background, but according to research by colourintech only 4% of the technical workforce.
