Apple makes three types of MacBook Pro: a 13-inch model that’s about to be upgraded with an M2 chip (which hit the market in June 2022); a 14-inch MacBook Pro with either an M1 Pro or M1 Max chip, and a 16-inch MacBook Pro, also with an M1 Pro or M1 Max chip (which launched in October 2021). Half the challenge is deciding which one to buy, the other challenge is finding a MacBook Pro in stock somewhere.

Since they went on sale in October 2021, inventory of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro has been limited, most likely a result of global component shortages coupled with shipping issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the stock seems to be at a more reasonable level and many resellers ship immediately, although in some cases there may be a week or two to wait (even if you buy directly from Apple itself).

There are US and UK merchants who have 13 inch, 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro to sell. Some resellers even discount the MacBook Pro! You may also be able to buy an M1 MacBook Pro until that model runs out of stock.
