KEPSA SME Accelerator Program 2022 for young Kenyan entrepreneurs

The SME Accelerator Program is an initiative of KEPSA with support from the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya, to support SMEs in rapidly increasing the value of their business. It includes intensive training and mentoring sessions to strengthen their current strategies, accelerate their growth and help them change or adapt their strategy due to new information about their target market. provide them with access to appropriate financial products with the aim of growing and expanding their business.” This market-driven program provides services, including mentoring and coaching, to SMEs to accelerate their growth. The key topics covered in Cohort 3, Investor Readiness Theme, “Is Your Company Ready for Investors”, include:

Develop comprehensive business plans; Develop 3-year financial projections for their companies; Develop pitch decks and the art of pitching; Understand legal investor documentation; Overview of the financing landscape.

Eligibility Criteria

The main objectives for this cohort are to support the selected SMEs to evaluate their business processes and identify the gaps they need to address to be ready for funding.

Must be an SME owned or run by women or young people: women-led SMEs/SMEs 18-70 years old male-owned/owned SMEs 18-35 years old. Must be in operation for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 10 years Must have a minimum of 2 employees and up to 9 employees Must be registered in Kenya and be operational in one of the 47 provinces. Companies operating outside of Nairobi are encouraged to apply. Application is open to both KEPSA and non-KEPSA members, but priority will be given to KEPSA members and members of KEPSA corporate membership associations. Priority will be given to companies under the four major agenda sectors; Manufacturing, health, agriculture and housing. Committed to participate in the program for four months by attending eleven weekly sessions of two hours each. Must be computer literate. Willing to work and submit agreed results, namely; business plans, financial projections and pitch decks. Have a suitable device and reliable internet connection to participate as all sessions are virtual.
