IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarships 2022/2023 for East African Students to Study in South Korea Kyungdong University

IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarships: The Interuniversity Council for East Africa (IUCEA) wishes to announce a call for applications for undergraduate scholarships to study at Kyungdong University, South Korea, commencing in September 2022 for the study of; Bachelor’s degree in Smart Computing, Hotel Management and Business Administration.

Eligible Countries: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda

Field of Study: IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded to study undergraduate degree; Smart Computing, Hotel Management and Business Administration.

Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded to applicants (citizens and residents) from partner countries of the East African Community (5 students per partner state, including Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda) who meet the eligibility requirements below;

Conditions of access:

Applicants for IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarships must meet the following criteria:

Be a citizen of and resident in a partner state of the East African Community (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda); Have completed the pre-university level with excellent results; Have completed pre-university education in the home country in 2020 or 2021. Subjects and combinations to be included; Mathematics and English; Have a minimum of B in Mathematics and English; English Language Requirements: Master English. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of proficiency in English. The entry requirements for non-native speakers are IELTS 5.5 or IBT 71. Applicants must not be older than 22 years of age.

Selection Criteria: Upon submission of the required documents, the applicant’s performance and the available places per Partner State will be the criteria for the selection of eligible applicants.

Number of awards: Up to 30 scholarships are available each year for the next 5 years.

Award Value: The IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarship includes the following:

The full tuition of $10,000 per year for up to 4 years (by KDU Global). On-campus accommodation costs of $1,600 per year up to 4 years (by KDU Global) Return airfare at the beginning and end of every two years (by IUCEA) Support for health insurance every month for 4 years (by IUCEA) Processing and handling fees of $200 after selection (by IUCEA)

Students and their guardians/sponsors are liable for living expenses estimated at approximately $250 per month based on the average cost of living for students in South Korea.

All applicants will be subject to a two-stage merit-based selection process.

Phase I: IUCEA conducts the preliminary selection of candidates. Interested applicants should submit electronic or paper copies of the following documents to the IUCEA office in Kampala, Uganda:

FOR IUCEA-KDU Undergraduate Scholarships, all documents must be combined into one PDF file and submitted to IUCEA by April 15, 2022.

Phase II: KDU Global conducts individual assessments and confirms final selections. Candidates may be required to submit additional documents and designated forms if deemed necessary.

The final selection notices will not be sent to the successful candidates until May 23, 2022.

VI. KDU Global Admission

Scholarship recipients may be required to submit other additional documents for final admission to KDU Global upon receipt of guidelines.
