About Scholarships: The Italian Government awards scholarships for studying in Italy to both foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE). The aim of these scholarships is to promote international cultural cooperation, disseminate the Italian language, culture and scientific knowledge and promote Italy’s economic and technological sectors around the world.

Academic Qualifications: Applications may only be submitted by foreign students not resident in Italy and by Italian citizens resident abroad (IRE)* who possess an appropriate academic qualification required to enroll in the Italian University/University Italian Institute. https://studyinitaly.esteri.it/en/Recognition-of-qualification. Age Requirements: Applicants for Master’s Degree / Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance (AFAM) Programs / Italian Language and Culture courses must not be older than 28 years before the deadline of this call, with the exception of extensions. Candidates for PhD programs must not be older than 30 years by the deadline of this call, with the exception of renewals. Candidates for research projects under academic supervision must not be older than 40 years by the deadline of this call. Language Proficiency Applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in the Italian language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR): (https://www.linguaitaliana.esteri.it/data/lingua/corsi/pdf/tabella_certificazioni.pdf). Proof of proficiency in Italian is not required for courses taught entirely in English. In this case, applicants must provide a language certificate of their proficiency in the English language. For Italian and culture courses, applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in the Italian language. Scholarship Value:

Normally, the fellows are exempt from paying the university tuition fees, in accordance with existing regulations. However, the universities, as part of their autonomy, may not grant such an exemption. Candidates are therefore advised to contact the chosen institution to be informed about any taxes or tuition fees. For the only period of the scholarships awarded by the Italian government, the fellows are covered by insurance against illness and/or accident. Airline tickets are not issued except for Chilean citizens.
