The Government of Ireland Scholarship was established under the provisions of the Government’s International Education Strategy.

Scholarships will be branded as prestigious awards that reflect key messages about Ireland as a center of international education. It is expected that for each scholarship winner, awareness of Ireland will be raised among many more potential students.

Irish Government Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship for all international students and European students to pursue a full-time Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. Degree Programs at Irish Universities.

This Scholarship is awarded by the Irish Universities of Higher Education in any academic discipline. 60 scholarships are provided under Irish Government Scholarship.

What are the benefits of an Irish Government Scholarship?

All costs are covered by the Government of Ireland Scholarship Program to study in Ireland for a period of one year.

Successful students receive a stipend of 10,000 euros for a year of study.

Government of Ireland Scholarship covers full waiver of all tuition and other registration fees at the higher education institution.

Who can apply for the Irish Government Scholarship?

A student in the final year of an Undergraduate Program at the higher education institution in Ireland can apply for this scholarship. He/she should perform better in previous studies at the time of application.

A scholarship can be applied for for the master’s programme. It must be a one-year master’s degree.

Are you going to do research in Ireland? Government Scholarship of Ireland supports international researchers for three to four years to complete their PhD.

What is the application process for an Irish Government Scholarship?

All applicants must have a conditional or final offer of study from an eligible Irish higher education institution. To receive an offer, the applicant must first apply to an Irish higher education institution for a degree. The institution will then make an offer to the student if it believes the student is eligible for their course.

All applicants must be in possession of a valid conditional or final offer letter from an eligible Irish higher education institution by the closing deadline of 25 March.

All applications must be completed in English.

It is up to the applicant to decide which references he believes best suit his application. Please note: Reference letters must be uploaded through the online application portal.

The top 12 applications will be automatically funded based on excellence as they represent the top 20% of the 60 prizes to be funded.

In addition to the ranked position of the applications, the remaining 48 prizes will be awarded taking into account:

Institutional (university, technological university, technical institute, etc.), field of study, level of study and geographical distribution; potential social/development benefits that may accrue to the country of origin in areas such as education, social work, health promotion and infrastructure development; the underrepresentation of women and men in certain disciplines in which they are traditionally underrepresented.

What are deadlines?

Ireland Government Scholarship can be applied for by 25 March each year. The selected students will be notified of the results by 1 June at the latest.
