HiiL’s Justice Entrepreneurship School Incubation Program 2022 for East African budding entrepreneurs

The Justice Entrepreneurship School is HiiL’s flagship incubation program in Kenya, Rwanda and Somalia that supports startup entrepreneurs who prevent or solve urgent legal needs in their communities. The program is aimed at startups in the incubation phase, where there is minimal viable product or service, but no traction and will run for a period of 6 weeks. The program aims to deliver quality action learning and focuses on business modeling, storytelling, pitching and justice design thinking.

During the incubation program, the startups work to get their product into the hands of users as quickly as possible, aggressively and consistently get their feedback and refine the MVP accordingly. This includes getting enough users and running tests on them.

Requirements

The program is suitable for startups that:

Provide a solution that meets the needs of people with unmet judicial needs who struggle to access effective, easy-to-understand, affordable and accessible resources to prevent or solve their judicial problems. Have a basic product or service, i.e. an existing prototype or minimally viable problem. Not having a grip, that is, the product is still not in the hands of users, or it is only in the hands of a small number of early adopter users, where we still don’t see enough evidence that this product or company can work. Led by a team of 2 or 3 committed and passionate co-founders who share a drive for justice and impact.
