Government of Mauritius Africa Scholarships 2022/2023 for African Students (October Admission)

Mauritius Africa Scholarships 2022/2023: As part of its commitment to promote high-level capacity building across the continent, the Government of Mauritius is awarding scholarships to deserving students who are residents of African Union member states or African Commonwealth countries according to the following criteria below:

Suitability:

Candidates for Mauritius Africa Scholarships must be over 18 years of age and must not have reached their 26th birthday by the closing date of the application; years prior to the application closing date Applicants must have applied for full-time on-campus study at a public tertiary education institution in Mauritius for an academic year commencing in 2022; The scholarship lasts for a maximum of four (4) years or the minimum course duration whichever is shorter. Qualification Entry Requirements The candidates of Mauritius Africa Scholarships must have successfully completed the end of high school to be eligible and must meet the minimum grade requirements as indicated below: (i) 24 credits at GCE A – level which will be calculated on the basis of the following grades obtained in three major subjects: A+=10, A=9, B=8, C=7, D =6 & E=5; OR (ii) at least an overall average of 70% or an overall average of 14/20; OR (iii) criteria equivalent to (i) or (ii) above. If the language of instruction is not English in the qualifying exam, the candidate must present a valid TOEFL or IELTS test result with a minimum score of not less than 550 or 5.5 respectively, or an appropriate certificate of English proficiency. Applicants who already hold an undergraduate degree are NOT eligible for this scholarship scheme. Self-funding candidates already studying in Mauritius are NOT eligible for this scholarship program.

Value of Mauritius Africa Scholarships: The Scholarship supports successful candidates in meeting tuition fees and contributes to their living expenses while studying in Mauritius. In addition, the airfare is covered, via the most economical route, from the country of origin at the beginning of the studies and back to the country of origin at the end of the studies. This applies to travel from the country of origin at the start of the study and back to the country of origin after successful completion of the studies.
