Galway’s Xerotech Creates 50 New Jobs in Manufacturing Facility

Xerotech has been working with the European Space Agency to build battery protection technology for its space missions. Last year it created 70 jobs.

The battery system manufacturing company Xerotech is recruitment for 50 new positions at its Claregalway facility in Galway.

Xerotech currently employs over 100 people in Galway. It has already significantly expanded its workforce since 2020 to meet the demand for its services.

It hired 70 people in Galway last February.

The company makes advanced lithium-ion battery systems for use in construction, agricultural and mining machinery. It was founded in 2015.

Xerotech hopes to complete the new features by the end of the year. Available jobs include line operators, executive assistants, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, injection molding, computer numerical control (CNC) machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding and automation functions.

“We are eager to add top talent globally to our team, driven by our latest expansion at our facility here in Galway,” said Dr. Barry Flannery, founder and CEO of Xerotech.

Flannery added that while the last decade has focused on electrifying cars, the current decade would focus on electrifying everything else from 400-ton mine dumpers to sweepers and boats.

He said Xerotech is already “leading the world in this area with customers in many parts of the world.”

The company has worked with the European Space Agency to build battery safety technology for space missions.

Leo Clancy, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, called Xerotech one of the organization’s fastest growing portfolio companies. It has “quickly established itself as a leader in off-highway electrification”, while its growth “significantly enhances Ireland’s ambition to be a major player in the global race to electrification,” Clancy said.

In addition to expanding its team, Xerotech continues to expand its operations at the Claregalway Corporate Park in Galway. It adds more buildings and expansions. It expects to exceed an 80,000 square foot footprint by mid-2023.
