AIMS-Carnegie PhD Scholarships in Data Science and Its Applications 2022 for African Students

In partnership with New York’s Carnegie Corporation, the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) invites students who are in the final stages of their MSc or MSc holder and are interested in data science and related disciplines (such as mathematics, statistics, Machine Learning, Cluster Analysis, Data Mining, Big Data Analytics, Data Visualization, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Deep Active Learning, Cognitive Computing among others), to apply for one of four attractive PhD scholarships on its groundbreaking Quantum Leap Africa (QLA) research center in Rwanda.

About the award: The AIMS-Carnegie Research program in Data Science and its Applications aims to position Africa at the forefront of information science. It also wants to ensure that scientists around the world can fully contribute to the above goal.

Candidates can be from any country. Applicants must have obtained at least an MSc degree in any field related to mathematical sciences before the start date of this position. be an advantage. Applicants must be open-minded and willing to conduct their research in their preferred AIMS research center, or a designated partner institution in one of the AIMS host centers.

Prize Value: Successful candidates will each benefit from financial aid of up to $19,390 per year for the duration of three years of their research studies. Funding is also available for conferences and international scientific events. The term may be extended upon satisfactory progress. Students would preferably be based at QLA in Rwanda and could be affiliated with one of the AIMS research centers and spend time in other international partner universities or research centers. Beneficiaries may also be affiliated with a recognized higher education institution in the same country as the AIMS Research Centre.
