1. Quantitative Data Analyst

In Kenya, the APHRC is looking for a Quantitative Data Analyst to work on their Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions initiative. The aim of the project is to assess how Kenya’s 2015 Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy is being implemented.

Experience and Qualifications

A master’s degree in statistics, demography, epidemiology, public health or a related field is required. Statistical knowledge and familiarity with statistical programs for analyzing massive data sets are required (e.g., STATA, R software). Experience with GIS data analysis and mapping , as well as data visualizations using Microsoft Excel or equivalent software. At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst is required. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to accurately collect, organize, analyze and distribute large amounts of data/information. Excellent communication skills in writing.

2. Qualitative Data Analyst

In Kenya, the APHRC is looking for qualitative data analysts to work on its Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions initiative. The aim of the project is to assess how Kenya’s 2015 Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy is being implemented.

Qualifications and Competencies

A bachelor’s degree in a social science or equivalent qualification is required. For data management and analysis, proficiency with one or more statistical analysis software tools, such as NVivo. At least two years of experience using the content analysis to analyze qualitative data, including the use of conceptual frameworks, codebook construction and coding. Rapid qualitative analysis experience is a plus. Excellent report writing skills and expertise in delivering high quality qualitative analysis reports. Excellent communication skills in writing. Working on health and/or social science research initiatives is a plus. Basic principles of confidentiality and data security are known.

3. Transcribers

Transcribers are needed for the APHRC Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions initiative in Kenya. The aim of the project is to assess how Kenya’s 2015 Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy is being implemented.

Bachelor’s degree Proficient in English and Swahili. Experience transcribing qualitative interviews is a plus. A typing speed of at least 60 words per minute (WPM) is required. Able to work independently under tight deadlines. Self-discipline and the ability to produce high-quality, self-edited work. Experience in conducting and coding qualitative research is a plus.

4. Investigation Officer

The APHRC is seeking a Research Officer to assist in Countdown 2030 project activities, particularly in Kenya.

Experience and Qualifications

A master’s degree in population studies/demography, statistics, epidemiology, economics or a related subject is required. At least two years of research experience after obtaining a master’s degree. Proven quantitative skills, as well as knowledge of associated analysis software STATA, SPSS , and R, are examples of statistical software. Analyzing regular health data (DHIS2) and national health surveys is a plus (DHS, MICS, SMART, PMA, SPA). Experience leading teams for data collection and field research.
Experience presenting research data to policy makers and other relevant stakeholders. The ability to work independently, prioritize activities, juggle different projects and meet tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a multicultural team. The ability to speak and write in English is required. It will be great if you speak French fluently.

5. Carta Curriculum and ToT Materials Copy Editor and Graphic Designer

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) in Kenya and the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa lead the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA). CARTA is looking for a group of people who can help with the following:

Professionally edit curriculum and training materials for trainers. Create graphic design and deliver a web-based educational series.
