AAI One World Scholarship Program in Austria 2022/2023 for Developing Countries
The AAI Salzburg awards scholarships to students from developing countries.

About the award: The One-World-Scholarship-Programme is a partial scholarship for students from Africa, Asia and Latin America who came to Austria on their own initiative to complete their education.
Future winners should focus on questions related to development in their studies and research.
Field of Study: Potential areas of specialization include poverty alleviation, social justice, global migrations, gender equality, climate change, sustainable use of resources, food security, renewable energies, environmental protection, sustainable tourism, urbanization, health, human rights, democratization, good governance, anti-corruption, conflict prevention and resolution, international relations, intercultural dialogue. This list should give applicants an idea of relevant topics, but is not exclusive.

Suitability:
nationality of a non-European developing country (country list) admission to a master’s or PhD program at a university or college in Salzburg or Tyrol (Uni Salzburg, Uni Innsbruck, FH Salzburg, MCI, FH Kufstein) for PhD students: approved disposition age limit: Master studies max. 30 years (mothers: 35 years), PhD studies max. 35 years (mothers: 40 years) at the time of application for a residence permit “student”
The scholarship will contribute to the exercise of the right to education for critical and intellectual young people who are in poor conditions in their home country. These aspects apply even more strongly to women. Priority will be given to female students for applications from equally qualified individuals.
Selection criteria:
Financial need: We take into account own income, savings, other means of livelihood, occupation and income of parents to select students who would hardly be able to successfully complete their studies without financial support. Evidence of Good Study Progress: Good study progress documented by transcript of records of current and previous studies. In programs without entrance exams, students who have already completed at least one semester at an Austrian university have a distinctive advantage. Interest in development and according to specialization in studies: Potential winners are expected to show a strong interest in development related issues, which should be reflected in the choice of fields of study, previous work experience, volunteer activities etc.

No scholarships will be awarded for:
studies at private universities postgraduate study programs (“Lehrgänge”, e.g. “Universitätslehrgang” or “Fachhochschullehrgang”) or other non-certificate programs applicants with a residence permit other than “student” non-training students (“außerordentliche Studierende”) short-term visits and exchange programs

The scholarship committee will make a decision in mid-August. You will be informed of the decision shortly after.
