A Conversation with Lena Hackelöer, Founder and CEO of Instant Payments Provider: Brite Payments

Brite Payments is an instant payment provider headquartered in Sweden and uses Open Banking technology to process A2A payments in real time between consumers and online merchants. When using Brite payment services, no consumer login or credit card details are required as they authenticate themselves with only top-of-mind details using their bank’s usual method of identification – creating a much smoother experience.

We currently operate in 21 markets in Europe and are connected to over 3,800 banks across the EU, but this figure continues to grow as demand for fast, convenient payment methods remains strong.

What do you think makes this company unique?

We created Brite to bring to the market an instant payment company that would be widely recognized by merchants, but critically important, attractive to consumers. Brite is always visible as a payment brand, meaning consumers make an active choice to pay or get paid with Brite, unlike other players in the open banking space.

Our dedicated consumer experience efforts make us unique, and it’s this approach that has led to some of our latest milestones, including our partnership with online bank transfer giant SOFORT.

How has the company developed in recent years?

There have been many significant developments at Brite since our founding in 2019. When we launched our product, we were a small team operating in three markets, and in less than four years we have grown to multiple European offices offering our services in 21 markets with significant growth forecasts for the remainder of the year.

Our first biggest milestone was receiving our license as a payment institution, allowing us to process payments and hold funds on behalf of our customers across Europe to support convenience and convenience. This year we have already seen significant evolution in the business, with numerous milestones including the launch of our Single Sign solution, our aforementioned partnership with SOFORT and our recently launched recurring payment service. These developments have broadened the markets we can support and to support these opportunities, we have also accelerated our talent acquisition efforts.

What can we hope to see in the future of Brite Payments?

In the near future, we are working hard to establish operations within the many markets in which we currently operate. We will be hiring local staff to develop deeper ties with our local customers and in the coming years these will also be the new markets we are preparing to enter. We are always looking to expand our market coverage and offer our evolving product offerings to sellers in a variety of industries.

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do and we are excited to launch new products for specific industries this year and beyond. The significant benefits that direct payments can provide in different markets are clear, and Brite Payments will demonstrate this as we continue to drive our growth with a focus on merchant and consumer convenience.
