The foundation is offering the six selected candidates 60,000 Yen per month towards their undergraduate or postgraduate study in the applied university in Japan.
This scholarship is for the international students who wish to work in Fukuoka. It comes with work experience opportunity at a local company.
Fukuoka Ajia Bunkashō) is an award established by the city of Fukuoka and the Fukuoka City International Foundation (formerly The Yokatopia Foundation) to honor the outstanding work of individuals or organizations in preserving or creating Asian culture. There are three prize categories: Grand Prize, Academic Prize, and Arts and Culture Prize.
In 1989, Fukuoka held the Asia-Pacific Exposition (referred to as “Yokatopia”) with the concept of interaction between the Asia-Pacific region. The prize program was inaugurated in the following year to carry on the spirit of the Expo, and ever since then, the prizes have been given annually and the related official events including the award ceremony and the public forums by the prize winners have been held in every September, also known as “Asian Party” in Fukuoka. In 1999, the school visits were added into the program to give a special lecture to children by the prize winners.
Application Deadline: Students must observe the application deadline of the university they wish to apply to. Students are suggested to apply by the recruitment period, i.e., from early April to early May.

- Applicants must be enrolled in a university in the Fukuoka Metropolitan Area.
- Applicants must meet the language requirements, both Japanese and English, if any, of the desired university.
- Applicants are required to meet the entry and academic and course-specific requirements of the university.
How to Apply: Students must first apply to their desired university for a study programme of choice. Then, apply to Fukuoka City International Foundation through their university to consider the scholarship opportunity.
